Nexus Vehicle Rental is setting the benchmark for the rental industry with the launch of an innovative solution that provides tangible benefits for the climate and for families in Africa.
At the heart of the new initiative is the facility to offset carbon emissions for the vehicles that you rent, enabling you and your colleagues to drive CarbonZero. This is made possible through an industry-leading innovation which will enable you to select the rental vehicle by its CO2 emissions.
Nexus was the first company to call for this facility to be provided across the whole rental industry and it is now the first rental provider to offer a service that encompasses virtually the whole UK rental market. Whether accessing vehicles from a large national group or small independent rental company, you will be able to select the vehicle by CO2 emissions and then offset the emissions, all streamlined in the reservation process.
This exciting initiative not only helps businesses reduce their impact on the climate, but provides direct help to families in Africa through a partnership between Nexus and carbon management company, co2balance.
You can opt to offset your rental by paying an extra 40p per day. This will then go towards the energy saving carbon offset scheme supporting families in Africa. The scheme manages the construction of energy saving cooking stoves which replace fuel intensive open fires, reducing the amount of firewood needed for cooking by over 50%. This prevents the release of carbon emissions through the reduction in firewood burned as well as having important health benefits for the families.
The whole carbon zero process from vehicle selection to carbon offsetting can be carried out seamlessly as part of the overall reservation process using the IRIS online booking and management system. Users can even access a map showing the GPS locations of the energy efficient stoves in Kenya to which the funds have contributed.
